About Deborah

Deborah Henry pivots, reimagines, and welcomes change. 

Her original screenplay, CROSS TALK, shot in the UK, was a new, fun experience. Deb is looking forward to distribution, more films, and sharing more stories with the world. 

Her goal is to connect through art because “We are all human racing it,” and are here to help one another.

Deb’s critically acclaimed novel, The Whipping Club, received a Kirkus starred review and appeared on their Best of 2012 list, praise from Publishers Weekly, and was selected for Oprah’s Summer Reading List. She’s written a screenplay based on the novel.  

“If it ain’t fun, I’m not doing it,” is Deb’s mantra, and she’s a firm believer in following your calling to evoke natural passion and perseverance. 

She hopes to publish her next novel Circle in the Water, and has already begun adapting it for TV or Film. She’s expanding her portfolio with a potential animation for her children’s book, Watch Her Shine, which takes place in Bwindi Forest and was published in Uganda and Australia. 

Deborah Henry holds an MFA from Fairfield University. Her first short story, published in Copperfield Review, was a Solander Magazine historical fiction finalist and longlisted for the Fish Short Story Prize. She’s been a guest on radio programs and featured on NBC, FOX, and CBS television. She’s an active member of the Academy of American Poets and patron of the Irish Arts Center in New York. She founded the Deborah Henry Scholarship Fund for the Abroad Writers Conference in Dublin. Deb has traveled extensively throughout Ireland and spends time in New York, Florida, and Utah.
